1999 - Raleigh, NC : The Carolina Cobras are born. Owner Robert L. "Roddy" Jones' club will begin play in 2000.

1988 - Chicago, IL : ArenaBowl II: The expansion Detroit Drive win their first title, upsetting the Chicago Bruisers, 24-13 at the Rosemont Horizon. Drive WR/DB Steve Griffin is named MVP with 6 catches for 52 yards and one return for 15.
