New Orleans VooDoo Head Coach Derek Stingley Released On Sunday
Sunday June 26, 2011
NEW ORLEANS (June 26, 2011) – New Orleans VooDoo head football coach Derek Stingley was relieved of his position, announced the front office on Sunday afternoon.
The VooDoo is a league worst 2-12, and are 0-8 at home in its first season since 2008. The team’s most recent loss came against the Spokane Shock, falling 75-54 on Saturday night. The 21-point differential tied the largest margin of defeat at home for the VooDoo this season.
“This is very unfortunate and an extremely tough move, considering the personal relationship that I have with Derek,” said Dan Newman, New Orleans VooDoo owner. “Our performance on the field simply has not been up to par while showing minimal signs of improvement. Our fans deserve better, they deserve a winner.”
The team came into Week 16 ranked last in the league scoring offense (42.4 ppg), turnover margin (-18) and sacks (8).
