Reeling from three straight defeats and being tied in knots by a one-win team for the second week in a row, the Shock rallied from behind with two big defensive plays in the fourth quarter – one an interception return for a touchdown by Terrance Sanders – to outlast the New Orleans VooDoo 65-54.

The return of Kurt Rocco sparked an anemic New Orleans VooDoo offense Friday night. Unfortunately, a season-long epidemic was too much for Rocco and the VooDoo to overcome.

AFL Exchange: Mix-up in the middle
Brian Beaudry, ArenaFan.com

Well, that was apparently an awful time to debut the rankings. Week 8 featured the most upsets of any week, with several heretofore poor teams upsetting teams that had recently looked like contenders. After this week’s games, there’s some huge movement in the top half of the rankings. We’ll try this again this week, hoping for some better results.

Utah Blaze player saves woman's life
AFL Press Release

Aaron Lesué is known by many as an All-Arena wide receiver for the Utah Blaze. Some are aware of his aspirations to become a United States Olympic bobsledder. Others are familiar with the former Utah State walk-on from his participation in the Dancing with the Salt Lake Stars competition to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this past March. But after the events of April 24, 2013, even more have come to recognize the world-class athlete for what he really is: a hero.

Week 8 was one of the most bizarre weeks we've seen in a while in the AFL. Aaron Garcia threw for 11 touchdowns for Orlando in an 83-82 win over Spokane and TT Tolliver had an eye-popping game. San Antonio and Jacksonville combined for 64 total points...in a whole game. Cleveland upset Chicago, Pittsburgh upset Philadelphia and Iowa limited New Orleans to all of 16 points.
