Arena Football League and NFL Network launch major ad blitz

Thursday March 4, 2010

Tampa Bay – The AFL and NFL Network have embarked on a digital-media advertising blitz entitled “Arena Rock!” that features Tampa Bay Storm wide-receiver T. Saint-Michaels, and highlights NFL Network coverage of the Friday Night AFL “Game of the Week”, announced Tampa Bay Storm General Manager, Tim Marcum.

The Arena Rock campaign is being delivered in almost every major US market, and consists of streaming (radio) audio advertising, online and mobile-phone ad banners (on I-Phone, Blackberry, and Android) as well as branded station sponsorships. Slacker Digital Radio was chosen as the initial kick-off partner, primarily due to their exclusive partnership with Verizon Wireless and industry-leading audience volume and interface capabilities.

“The choice of Saint-Michaels and the Tampa Bay Storm as the face of the new campaign was based on “a nearly-universal” understanding of the excitement and energy he brings to the game, and to our fans all over the country,” said AFL Commissioner Jerry Kurz.

Tampa Bay Storm Head Coach Tim Marcum, now in his 14th season with the Storm and easily recognized as the most successful coach in Arena Football history also praised his new wide-receiver. "Saint-Michaels' extraordinary athleticism, strength and speed will be a powerful weapon in our game plan, both on the ground and in the air. We're anxious to get him on the field."

The Storm organization recognized as one of the leading teams in the Arena Football League, setting numerous attendance records in its 23-year history. The team also won World Championships in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996 and 2003, winning the last Championship in front of a sell-out crowd of 20,496 at the St. Pete Times Forum.

The AFL will premiere its 2010 regular season on NFL Network with a live, primetime telecast on Friday, April 2 at 8 p.m. ET, and “Arena Rock!” telecasts are scheduled for Friday nights in primetime throughout the AFL’s 18-game regular season culminating with the 2010 ArenaBowl Championship during the weekend of Aug. 20-23.

All AFL games on NFL Network will be telecast in high definition and feature specialized in-game audio techniques that capture the fast-paced intensity that is the hallmark of the AFL’s “50-Yard Indoor War.”

The AFL’s 15-team league includes the Chicago Rush, Dallas Vigilantes, Tampa Bay Storm, Orlando Predators, Arizona Rattlers (Phoenix), Cleveland Gladiators, Utah Blaze (Salt Lake City) and the new Jacksonville Sharks, Alabama Vipers (Huntsville), Bossier-City/Shreveport Battlewings, Iowa Barnstormers, Milwaukee Iron, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Spokane Shock and Tulsa Talons.
