Cutters WR, Revhoney DB and AVITAE Kicker of the Year announced

NEW ORLEANS – As AVITAE ArenaBowl XXV Week continues, the League Office announced the recipients of three more awards on Tuesday.

Iowa Barnstormers WR JESSE SCHMIDT was named the Cutters Wide Receiver of the Year, while Philadelphia Soul DB KENT RICHARDSON was selected the RevHoney Defensive Back of the Year. Spokane Shock K KENNY SPENCER earned AVITAE Kicker of the Year honors.

Schmidt, who led the League in scoring, receptions, and receiving yards during his 2012 campaign, became the first receiver in AFL history to accumulate 150 receptions and 2,000 receiving yards in consecutive seasons. The League’s scoring leader finished with 172 receptions for 2,218 yards and 59 total touchdowns.

Richardson tied for the League-lead in interceptions with 14, setting a single-season franchise record in the process. He also collected 80.5 tackles, two tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two touchdowns.

Spencer, who recorded a single-season AFL record of 138 PAT conversions in 2012, connected 4-of-7 field goals. The rookie finished the season with 150 points.

AVITAE ArenaBowl XXV, featuring the Philadelphia Soul and the Arizona Rattlers will kick off at 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday, August 10 at the New Orleans Arena.
