The Best Team in the AFL

The wait is nearly over. This weekend our beloved Arena Football broadcasts return to TNN – excuse me, that’s the New TNN. For fans without a satellite dish, it’s finally time to watch some football. This season’s broadcast team has some familiar faces plus a new addition who really isn’t a stranger.

“I’m looking forward to getting started with Arena Football on TNN,” said Charles Davis, who joins Eli Gold in the broadcast booth. Fans in Nashville will remember Davis from the Fox Sports South broadcasts of Kats games in the 2000 season. “I called three regular season games on TNN last year,” Davis recalled, “filling in for John Jurkovic.” Most fans will remember Davis from his work with Dave Sims and Dave Ryan during last season’s playoffs. He is also broadcasting two Orlando Predators games this season for the Sunshine Network. His broadcasting career began in 1997, covering college sports for Fox Sports South and the Sunshine Network.

Eli Gold has been preparing for the broadcasts for some time. “I watched three games on satellite this weekend,” he told me. He has also been to some af2 games. “It doesn’t prepare you for the teams you’ll be seeing,” he admitted, “but it’s good to get back into Arena Football after covering the outdoor game.” Gold and his associates are now in their regular season schedule, “We will get on Tuesday the tape of each team’s previous games. We always have conference calls with the coaches on Wednesday. This has been a little bit different, waiting until June to pick up the season.”

Okay, I know what you’re all wondering and the answer is Yes. Jill Arrington will be back on the sidelines.

What more could you want? Eli Gold, Charles Davis, and Jill Arrington are a knowledgeable and professional team.

Pay attention NBC, this is the way to do it right.
