Teams with such cool nicknames as the Rampage, Barnstormers and Kats have played for the Arena Football League's top prize, too. No team, though, has reached the championship game more than the Arizona Rattlers.

Wheels Fall Off in 2nd Half, Shock Season Ends in Arizona
Jeffrey Giuliani, ArenaFan.com

The 2013 season was one with many highs for the Spokane Shock. Unfortunately, their season could not end on one. The Arizona Rattlers won the rubber match by a score of 65-57, sending the Shock back home with a devastating loss. A strong first half by the Shock was only an aberration. The Rattlers stormed back to close out the second half and dominated the 3rd quarter en route to a commanding victory. 37 consecutive points gave the Rattlers enough of a lead to coast into ArenaBowl XXVI with a win.

He’s the only player in the history of football to post at least 4,800 passing yards and 100 passing touchdowns in four straight seasons. And he’s done this in his first four AFL seasons. Add the most wins in a four-year span in league annuals, a League MVP and ArenaBowl MVP, and Nick Davila may have already penciled in his name for a future AFL Hall of Fame induction.

Shock and Rattlers Set For Grudge Match in Snake Pit
Jeffrey Giuliani, ArenaFan.com

On Sunday afternoon, the Spokane Shock anxiously awaited to find out who their opponent would be in the National Conference Championship. The Rattlers ended up thwarting the Sabercats, bringing the National Conference title game to the Snake Pit. Head Coach Andy Olson, among other players, reiterated the same sentiment: We don’t care who we have to play. Olson took it one step further, saying, “We would love to beat them on their home turf.” Now the Shock get their chance to make that a reality.
