AFL veteran receiver brings experience to Mustangs receiving corps

Milwaukee – The Milwaukee Mustangs are excited to announce that wide receiver Brent Holmes has signed with the Mustangs for the 2011 season.

The 5’11, 170 pound Holmes played for Texas A&M-Kingsville in college, where he was also a three-time All-American in track and field. He began his arena football career in 2004 with the IFL’s Corpus Christie Hammerheads and from there, went on to the Green Bay Blizzard of the af2, where he posted 983 yards and 12 Touchdowns in 2006. In 2008, he joined the Arena Bowl XXII Champion Philadelphia Soul towards the end of the season and caught the first touchdown pass of the Arena Bowl.

Holmes had his greatest success last season with the Cleveland Gladiators, where he accounted for 2,068 all-purpose yards. As a receiver, he had a spectacular season, finishing with 1,299 yards and 22 touchdowns. His best performance of the season came against the Orlando Predators, in which he scored 5 TDs and had 199 receiving yards.

Though he was released by the Spokane Shock in late February, the 30-year old Holmes provides experience and speed to the Mustangs offense, which already includes one of the AFL’s career receiving leaders in Damian Harrell.

“Brent will be an asset to solidify our receiving corps, as well as to bring leadership to a very young locker room.” Stated Jason Clark, Vice President and General Manager of the Mustangs.

The Mustangs’ home opener is set for Monday, March 14th 2011, as they battle the Chicago Rush at 6:30 PM at the Bradley Center. TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW! For more information, visit the www.MkeMustangs.com or call 414-224-4000 today!
