Force QB Chris Greisen and rookie WR Tiger Jones earn AFL monthly honors

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA – The Arena Football League has announced that Georgia Force (8-5) QB Chris Greisen has been named AFL Offensive Player of the Month for his performance in May and WR Tiger Jones garnered AFL Rookie of the Month honors for his efforts.
 
Greisen, 6-3, 220 pounds, completed 140 of 179 passes (78.2 pct) for 1,544 yards with 28 touchdowns this month and has led the Force to a 5-0 mark in the month of May and to the top of the Southern Division. In Week 12 at New York, he threw for a career and franchise-high 403 yards on 32 of 39 passing with a season-high nine touchdowns in Georgia’s 72-67 win. He then completed a career-high 86.7 pct of his passes (26 of 30) at New Orleans in Week 13 as Georgia defeated the New Orleans VooDoo 40-29 on ESPN2. This marks the second time in Greisen’s career that he has been named AFL Offensive Player of the Month (2007, March), and he is the only player in Force history to win the award.
 
Jones, 5-11, 184 pounds, hauled in 50 receptions for 580 yards (11.6 avg.) with 11 scores in five games this month. Jones tallied career highs in receptions (15), receiving yards (224) and touchdowns (six) in Georgia’s 72-67 win over New York in Week 12. His 224 receiving yards and 15 catches also marked single-game franchise highs and earned him AFL Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Jones becomes the fourth Force player to earn the award; WR Troy Bergeron (February) and WR Derek Lee (May) each earned the honor in 2005 and DB Chris Brown (January/ February) achieved the feat in 2006.
