Tuesday November 6, 2007

November 6, 2007– The Spokane Shock announced today that LB Lee Foliaki and DS Dennis Mitchell has been added to their 2008 roster.

Foliaki, 6’3 245, finished his collegiate career at Texas A&M in 2005 before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings. Foliaki was released from the Vikings towards the end of training camp.

As a an Aggie, Foliaki racked up 105 total tackles – including four sacks – with six pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries. Prior to transferring to Texas A&M, Foliaki attended Butler County Community College where in his final season he helped the team win a National Championship with a perfect 12-0 record. Foliaki was named the MVP of the Championship game.

“Lee had a fantastic college career,” Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. “He’s an athletic linebacker that I think will help our defensive production.”

Foliaki now joins his former Aggie teammate DL Jason Jack who joined the Shock’s roster in late October.

Mitchell, 5’8 179, played in four games last season for the BC Lions of the CFL, where he recorded 18 tackles and four special teams stops. Prior to signing with the Lions, Mitchell attended Western Kentucky University where he also starred as a track athlete. Mitchell holds the school’s 60-meter dash record and also recorded the eighth fastest 40-yard dash among all 2007 NFL prospects (4.3 seconds).

“Dennis is one of the fastest players I have ever seen,” Shackleford said. “As a senior at Western Kentucky, he was named 2nd Team All-Gateway when he had 55 tackles, an interception and 11 pass break ups. He has great speed, and he has shown tremendous cover skills.”

The Shock’s 2008 roster now stands at 21 players. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
