Philadelphia, Behind Goosby, Defeat Tampa Bay Storm, 71-27

Saturday May 23, 2015

TAMPA BAY, FL – Linebacker Joe Goosby scored four touchdowns, three on offense, as Philadelphia (8-1, 2-0) defeated the Tampa Bay Storm, 71-27, Saturday in an Arena Football League game at the Amalie Arena.

The Storm (3-5, 1-1) host the New Orleans VooDoo next Saturday on the Amalie Motor Oil Field at 7:30 p.m.

Tampa Bay couldn’t overcome a 27-0 halftime margin by the Soul, who then scored 30 points in the third period to put the game away.

Goosby,  a fifth-year Arena linebacker, was moved to fullback on offense and responded with the first three touchdowns of the game on one-yard runs. He also had an interception return for a touchdown, a block and returned extra point for two points. He also had two forced fumbles.

Considered the teams’ best athlete, Goosby  replaced Tommy Taggert, who was placed on inactive with a high ankle sprain, and Daverin Geralds, who just joined the team in a trade with New Orleans.

Kendrick Ings had a 56 yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the Storm and Jason Boltus threw for three touchdowns.
