Los Angeles, San Antonio Losses Keep Portland In Good Playoff Position

PORTLAND, OR
– The San Jose SaberCats and veteran QB Russ Michna continued to prove a puzzle for the Portland Thunder in a 64-27 win in the Sabercats’ first home game in the series.

The Thunder had a couple of bright spots – wide receiver Eric Rogers continued his streak of 100+ yard games as he caught 10 passes for 104 yards and the team’s first two touchdowns. Jamar Howard also got on the board as a member of the Thunder, nabbing five passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Darron Thomas also made his return to the field in the fourth quarter as the game was out of hand, connecting with Howard on both of his touchdown passes. He also found some holes to run through, setting a new team record with 33 rushing yards.

But Sabercats quarterback Russ Michna completed 13 of 18 passes for 7 touchdowns on the evening, finding favorite receiver for the night Dominique Curry for four of those touchdown passes.

The Thunder won’t have much time to dwell on the loss as they take on the San Antonio Talons at home in a pivotal game in the playoff race this Thursday, in a game to be aired on CSN Northwest as well as 750 AM.
