Sunday April 27, 2014

LOS ANGELES (April 26, 2014) – The LA KISS (2-4) fell to long-time Arena Football League mainstay, the San Jose SaberCats (4-3), 32-48 Saturday evening.

Following a back-and-forth contest through much of the first half, the SaberCats went into the break with a nine-point lead (27-18) after a Rod Harper touchdown grab that sent the wide receiver over the wall in the back of the end zone. Los Angeles was unable to close the gap after the half, despite a hard fought battle in the third and fourth quarters and inspired performances from respective team leaders.

Quarterback J.J. Raterink led the LA KISS offense with his arm and legs, passing for 305 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for a three-yard touchdown and an ensuing two-point conversion.

Meanwhile, Andre Jones helped steer the defensive effort with seven total tackles, several passes defensed and an interception.

The determined LA KISS play at home next Sunday, May 4 against the Spokane Shock. The game kicks off at 4:00PM (PST) and will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Single game tickets are still available at ticketmaster.com or the Honda Center box office.
