Local radio talent OD from WRIF (101 FM) and a crew from WDRQ (93.1 FM) were on hand; while morning personality Jay Towers made a live report from the floor. All witnessed the Fury`s first public football action on the Palace carpet.

Once the Open Field portion of the evening began, fans lined up to register for season tickets and/or speak with team representatives about tickets and/or the Fury in general. Some of the fans tried their luck at kicking a field goal, while still others took to the field to run a pass pattern and test Fury QB Scott Semptimphelter`s arm. A few fans were even caught by Gennifer Bertin for an interview and a chance to appear on UPN`s Piston halftime show the following Friday night. Yes, even yours truly made an appearance to extol the virtues of the Detroit Fury and to make a general fool of himself.
The line on Scott Semptimphelter: 6`2" and 215 pounds, college QB years at Lehigh. Semptimphelter brings AFL experience to the Fury QB position having spent time with the Orlando Predators, Nashville Kats, and most recently with the Los Angeles Avengers. The 28-year old hurler has a 54% lifetime completion record with 67 career touch-downs.
Some of the visitors were already season ticket-holders, while others were there to find out what Arena Football was all about before purchasing their tickets. Some walked away with newly assigned season ticket seats, but all walked away in anticipation of the 2001 season when the Fury will take the field for Absolute Football, Contained Chaos.
