The Kick is up, The Kick is Good

The Arena Atrium crowded with people in anticipation of the Detroit Fury`s first kick off. The gates opened at 6:55 pm, on Wednesday November 1st, the fans filled the Palace of Auburn Hills, and at 7:15 pm, to pounding music and loud applause, the "Fury meet and greet Kick off" was made, and it was Good! The Detroit Fury colors, uniform, logo, and initial Player signings was unveiled amidst the cheers of the anxious on-lookers.

The uniform primary colors of Purple and Black are broken by a Red and White trim. The helmets, ala Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Storm style, are a solid color, in this instance Purple, and have the electrified "F" for Fury in Red, Silver, and White on just one side of the helmet. The Fury has a logo duo, the first and primary logo, being a multi-color "F" (and in other instances the whole word Fury) shown in an electrified lightening bolt style (ala WNBA Detroit Shock). The secondary logo, in keeping with the Fury theme of "Absolute Football, Contained Chaos" has an F in the center of a "very special symbol"; stay tuned for a contest (coming soon) near you!

Head Coach Mouse Davis whooped it up with the crowd while introducing the Detroit Fury players..both of them:

Scott Semptimphelter, the 6`2" 215 pound Quarterback, spent his college years at Lehigh. Semptimphelter brings AFL experience to the Fury QB position having spent time with the Orlando Predators, Nashville Kats, and worked last year with the Los Angeles Avengers. The 28 year old hurler has a 54% lifetime completion record with 67 career touchdowns.

Antoine Worthman (Illinois State), was actually obtained by the Fury for the 2000 season that was never to be for the Fury, which left many Detroit area fans wondering Where’s the Fury? Well, the 5`11" 195 pound WR/DB Worthman is back, after having been acquired from the Storm and returning to the Storm last year. Antoine, on his career, has 192 tackles and 85 assists and 30 receptions with 4 TD`s.

Some of the visitors were season ticket-holders, yet others were curious to find out what Arena Football was all about before determining whether to purchase their tickets. Many walked away with autographs, some with newly assigned season ticket seats, but all walked away in anticipation of the 2001 season when the Fury will take the field for Absolute Football, Contained Chaos.
