VooDoo hire Raymond Philyaw as Offensive Coordinator
Thursday March 31, 2011
NEW ORLEANS (March 31, 2010) – The New Orleans VooDoo hired former AFL quarterback and Louisiana-Monroe hall of famer Raymond Philyaw as the team’s offensive coordinator, announced the front office on Thursday afternoon.
Philyaw played 11 seasons of professional football with 10 of them being in the Arena Football League. During his tenure in the AFL, he threw for over 26,000 yards and 500-plus touchdowns, while leading four different franchises to the playoffs.
The Shreveport, La. native still holds the league’s all-time touchdown-to-interception record with an 8.6-to-1 mark, while also having a 63-48 record as a starting quarterback to go along with an 8-6 mark in the postseason.
“This is a great hire for us, and I am confident that Ray is capable of maximizing our offense’s full potential – which I believe has the sky as the limit,” said head football coach Derek Stingley. “The guys will need to get accustomed to his style in hurry.”
