Dallas activates Garnett, places Brown on IR

Desperados also add Mason and Watson to practice squad

DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Desperados activated DL Winfield Garnett (6-6, 320) from the reserve/refuse to report list and placed DL Cyron Brown (6-6, 280) on the reserve/injured list today. Garnett was acquired in a trade with the Columbus Destroyers for FB/LB Peter Lazare-Saunders on Feb. 25.

Dallas also signed WR Troy Mason (6-9, 170) and OL Darnerius Watson (6-2, 300) to its practice squad.

Mason, a three-year veteran, enters his second stint with the Desperados as in 2006 he spent five weeks on the practice squad before appearing in two games to record six receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown. He spent last season with the New Orleans VooDoo, posting nine catches for 138 yards and one touchdown. For his career, Mason has made 15 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns.

Watson spent the entire training camp with Dallas before being released during final cuts. 

The Dallas Desperados open the 2008 season in a nationally televised game on ABC at the Georgia Force on March 1 at 12 p.m.
