Playoffs still in sight

Win by nine and they’re in
With one week remaining in 2007 regular season the Dragons still control their own destiny. In a Week Seventeen match-up, they take on the Columbus Destroyers in the most meaningful game of the season on Saturday night, June 23rd at 7:00pm at the Nassau Coliseum. The Dragons need to defeat the Destroyers by nine to take the sixth and final playoff spot in the National Conference.
Currently, the Dragons are one place out of the playoffs. Philadelphia’s Week Sixteen win over Columbus secured the Soul’s 2007 playoff hopes, improving their record to 7-8 and dropping Columbus to 6-9. The Dragons’ Week Sixteen loss to Dallas brought their record to 5-10. A win over Columbus would bring on a tie and since the Destroyers defeated the Dragons by nine in Week Ten, the Dragons must now defeat Columbus by nine or more to win in a tie breaker situation.
However, it doesn’t end there. If the Dragons were to win over the Destroyers this weekend by less than nine points, there is still a glimpse of hope. A New Orleans VooDoo win over the Georgia Force in their Sunday match-up would force the Dragons, Destroyers and VooDoo into a three-way tie, all recording a 6-10 record. Due to the tie-breakers, the Dragons would come out on top in the three-way tie-breaker situation, clinching the six and final spot for the National Conference playoffs.
