SALT LAKE CITY (June 9, 2007) - Mark Grieb tossed a franchise record and career-high 10 touchdown passes leading the San Jose SaberCats to their 8th straight win with a 70-49 decision over the Utah Blaze in an Arena Football League game on Saturday night.

Five different players caught a scoring pass from Grieb, who completed 26 of 39 attempts for 249 yards without an interception. His 7-yard scoring toss to James Roe four minutes into the game gave San Jose (11-3) a 7-0 lead and the SaberCats never trailed in beating the Blaze (7-8) for a third straight time.

Joe Germaine found Tom Pace on a 29-yard scoring play early in the second quarter pulling the Blaze within 20-14. But the SaberCats would score the final 23 points of the half to take a 43-14 lead at the break.

Scoring passes to George Williams, who had two on the game, Roe and Cleannord Saintil combined with an Alan Harper safety when he sacked Germaine in the endzone provided San Jose with its halftime cushion.

In an attempt to gain possessions and get back in the game, the Blaze were forced to attempt onside kicks and the strategy backfired when San Jose scored four times with a short field off the failed attempts.

Germaine completed 23 of 36 for 285 yards with 5 touchdowns, including his 100th of the season midway through the thirds quarter.
