Soul hosts Military Appreciation Night

Tuesday May 17, 2016

PHILADELPHIA- The Philadelphia Soul will be hosting Military Appreciation Night, presented by Sabre Systems on Saturday, May 21 as the team takes on the undefeated Orlando Predators (7-0). The game will be broadcast live on CBS SportsNet and 97.5 The Fanatic. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

“The entire night will be designed to honor the brave men and women who are serving or have served our country,” said Soul COO John Adams. “It is important to show these heroes that we support them and that their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.”

The Soul team will be wearing a custom-designed military-inspired patriotic jersey designed by Mike Fox of GFC Gear. The front of the jersey features the Great Seal as well as the Preamble to the Constitution. The red sides contain actual text from the Declaration of Independence in white lettering which is designed to resemble the stripes on the American flag, with the matching stars on the outer edge of the shoulders. On the top of the shoulders are 13 stars in a circle around each jersey number, similar to Betsy Ross’ flag with the 13 stars representing the original colonies. On the back is the Liberty Bell with its inscription, “Proclaim Liberty Throughout All The Land Unto All The Inhabitants Thereof.” Each jersey will be available for auction throughout the game, with proceeds benefiting our military based non-profit partners.

Before the game, the Soul will host a military-inspired boot camp sponsored by OrangeTheory Fitness, Parts Life Inc. and Thomas Edison State University. Drill instructors will provide a true “boot camp” experience and OrangeTheory trainers will guide a full circuit workout around the Wells Fargo Center. This will begin at 9am with registration at 8:30am, and is open to the public.

Soul owner Ron Jaworski along with Soul executives will lead a seminar on the Leadership of Diverse Populations at 5pm for active military members of Dover Air Force Base.

The McGuire Air Force Base will present the colors for the game and Soldier Strong, a military focused non-profit that is dedicated to helping American military veterans overcome major injuries sustained while defending our country, will have a special presentation during the first quarter break. The game’s 50/50 raffle will benefit Veteran Tickets Foundation, which provides free tickets to veterans and their families, including sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities.

To purchase tickets for Saturday, visit www.philadelphiasoul.com/military. Because of generous donations from organizations that support our military, many active military and veterans will be provided with complimentary tickets to the game.
