Philadelphia Looks to Keep Winning Streak Alive in Week 6

PHILADELPHIA– The Philadelphia Soul look to keep the winning streak and team chemistry alive. The Soul (5-0) will host the Portland Thunder (2-3) in Week 6 on Saturday, May 2 at 6 p.m. ET on the Rothman Field at the Wells Fargo Center. The game can be streamed on ESPN3.

This will be the first time the Soul face off against Portland. Portland entered the league in 2014 and finished the season 5-13. This past week the Soul kept the winning streak alive with a win against the New Orleans VooDoo. Tommy Taggart led the offense with 11 rushes for 47 yards and three touchdowns. The highlight of the game was New Orleans’ line-drive onside kick recovery. Raudabaugh, who continues to lead his team to greatness, completed the night with 18-of-25 passes for 196 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Ryan McDaniel ended the night with six catches for 56 yards and one touchdown. Shaun Kauleinamoku added four receptions for 55 yards, and one touchdown. As for defense, LaRico Stevenson led the defense with nine total tackles. Bryan Robinson added four tackles, but it was his two sacks that gained him the Riddell Defensive Player award. The highlight of the game was New Orleans’ line-drive onside kick recovery. With an improving offense and defense, the Soul are prepared to take on the Thunder.

To start off, the Soul defensive backfield needs to focus on Thunder WR Jamar Howard. So far this season, Howard has a total of 45 catches for 610 yards and 13 touchdowns. Howard has already surpassed what he completed last season. In 2014, Howard had 44 catches for 664 yards and nine touchdowns all season.

The next match-up to look for is the Soul offensive line—Adam Smith, Shannon Breen, and Neal Tivis—up against the Thunder defense. So far this season, the line has worked well together to protect Raudabaugh by allowing only two quarterback sacks. The Thunder defense has a total of seven sacks for 37 yards.

The final match-up to keep an eye out for is Soul WR Ryan McDaniel up against the Thunder secondary. So far this season McDaniel has 42 catches for 505 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Thunder defensive backs have together recorded 68.5 tackles, five interceptions for 78 yards, and three fumble recoveries.

The Soul will stay at home against the Orlando Predators in Week 7 on Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET on the Rothman Field at the Wells Fargo Center.
