Philadelphia Soul hold town takeover in Horsham

Soul Join Armed Forces in Town Practice for Military Appreciation Night
PHILADELPHIA (June 7, 2013) - The Philadelphia Soul, presented by Parx Casino, will host a "Town Takeover" of Horsham on Friday, June 21 from 6:30-8 p.m. The Town Takeover, presented by Walgreens, will take place in the parking lot of Speed Raceway and will feature a "run-through" practice before their Military Appreciation Night against the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday, June 22 at 6:05 p.m.
The event will be free to the public. During the practice, kids will be asked to participate by "running plays" with the Soul team. This will be the team's last practice before the Soul (5-5) host the Iowa Barnstormers (4-7) on Saturday, June 22, with kickoff scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at the NovaCare Field at the Wells Fargo Center.
"Our town takeover in Horsham was very successful in 2012 and we look forward to going back to such a great community this year," said John Adams, VP/COO of the Soul. "With the Willow Grove Air Base being so close, it is the perfect location for our town takeover with Soul Military Appreciation Night the next day."
The event will include live musical entertainment both before and after the practice as well as Military displays. Additionally, there will be face painters and balloon artists, food, drinks and more. In addition to Soul players and coaches, there will be appearances by the Soul mascot, SoulMan, the Soulmates dance team, Soul ownership and front office staff. After the practice, fans will be able to meet Soul players and Soulmates who will be signing autographs.

At the Town Takeover, there will be appearances by the local National Guard and Reserve units across the tri-state area. The event will also feature military vehicles for display.
The next day's Soul game will be themed, "Military Appreciation Night," which the Soul will team with The Judge Group to raise awareness of the unemployment issues of veterans in our country. The Judge Group will host the Veterans Arena Football Game, where veterans, guardsmen, and reservists of the Armed Forces will partake in the Army versus Navy football game.
One event that will take place before the game will be The Judge Group's Speed Career Networking Event, which there will be transitioning assistance for all military service members as well as a Stars and Stripes fan fest from 3:30-5:30 p.m. featuring a live performance from Biz Markie.
