Shock win in impression fashion, led by Adron Tennell and Terrance Sanders

SPOKANE, WA (May 18, 2012)- The Spokane Shock (5-4) defeated the Philadelphia Soul (7-3) in a dominating fashion posting 21 unanswered points to begin the game led by Week 10 National Guard MVP Terrance Sanders who recorded three interceptions.

The Shock set the tone for the night as Rowley connected with Adron Tennell in the first three minutes of the game for a touchdown. Moments later Terrance Sanders snagged a lobbed pass by Dan Raudabaugh and returned the ball for 32 yards. Rowley would find Tennell two more times in the first quarter to help Spokane secure a lead against the Soul. The Soul struggled to move the ball against the Shock defense and Sanders would find another opportunity to steal back the ball.

Scoring would go back and forth in the second quarter as the Soul would be the first to rush into the endzone. The Shock shuffled down the field and answered back as Brandon Thompkins had his first score of the night on the ground. With less than a minute left on the clock, Tennell juggled the ball before adding another touchdown to his list. On the ensuing kickoff, the Shock recovered an on-side kick and then followed up by a 32-yard field goal by Kenny Spencer. The half would end with a heavy lead for the Shock leaving the Soul trailing behind 37-14.

The Shock found their momentum again in the second half as Sanders intercepted the ball from the Soul and returned it for a 42-yard touchdown. At the end of the quarter, the Soul would have two on-side kicks of their own that they would recover, one resulting in a touchdown as the third quarter would end with the Shock holding their lead 51-35.

Once again the Soul were the first into the endzone going into the fourth quarter. Thompkins would find the endzone again to expand the Shock’s lead and Paul Stephens would recover a Philadelphia fumble to seal the victory. Spokane defeated Philadelphia by a final score of 65-47.
