The Cleveland Gladiators are headed to the playoffs after a 47-35 victory over the Columbus Destroyers at Quicken Loans Arena in front of 14,397 on Saturday night.
Fans attending last night's Gladiators season finale might have been initially disappointed by the lack of Bernie Kosar bobblehead dolls, but they left with an even bigger prize - a playoff berth.
The Gladiators didn't have to look any further than their practice squad to find the boost they needed to get into the Arena Football League playoffs in the team's first year in Cleveland.
Bernie Kosar stood at the end of the tunnel as Cleveland Gladiators players streamed out of the arena. "Yes, sir … playoff bound," the former Browns quarterback yelled as he high-fived each of his Arena Football League players.
The Gladiators' fate heading into Saturday's season finale against the Columbus Destroyers is simple: win and continue the quest for an Arena Bowl title in the playoffs, or lose and begin the offseason.
