Veteran Wide Receiver returns to Sharks
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Friday that they were assigned WR Prechae Rodriguez. Per team policy, the terms of the contract weren’t released.
Starting out as a draft prospect from Auburn in 2008, Rodriguez (6’4,215) signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent, but was later cut from the roster. After going in the third round of the 2011 CFL draft, Rodriguez had very brief stints with five Canadian Football League teams.
Rodriguez has played with a different Arena Football team in each of his four seasons in the league. As a rookie with Tampa Bay, Rodriguez had 125 receptions for 1653 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Rodriguez expanded on his solid rookie season with his best year to date with Orlando where his receptions and yards dropped slightly to 119 and 1578 respectively, but his touchdowns peaked at 40 for the season.
After a season with Pittsburgh, Rodriguez was assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks in 2015. This season, the 31-year-old receiver returns to the Sharks to add depth to the talented receiving corps.
