Utah's James, Sauk named Net10 Coaches of the Year

 NEW ORLEANS – The Utah Blaze coaching staff came away with two postseason honors, the AFL Office announced today. Blaze Head Coach Ron James was named NET10 Head Coach of the Year, while Offensive Coordinator Matt Sauk earned NET10 Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

James guided the Blaze to its first winning season in franchise history, finishing with a 12-6 record and a postseason berth. He also led the Blaze on the longest winning streak in franchise history, tying together a string of six consecutive victories in 2012.

Sauk earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. His playcalling guided the League’s top passing attack to an AFL-high 319.9 yards through the air per game, as well as a 66.7 percent conversion rate on fourth downs in 2012. Sauk’s prized pupil, quarterback Tommy Grady, set new League records for passing yards (5,870), passing touchdowns (142), pass completions (507) and pass attempts (743).
