Gladiators announce open player tryouts

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators are pleased to announce that the team will hold OPEN PLAYER TRYOUTS on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at their official practice facility – MultiPlex Events and Sports Center located at The WORD Church in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.
Gladiators Head Coach STEVE THONN has guaranteed that two players will have the opportunity to participate in the Gladiators training camp in February 2011.
“We are in a football-rich part of the country and there is plenty of local talent in Northeast Ohio,” Thonn said. “I’m not nervous about this guarantee at all – I know we’ll have plenty of area talent come out and showcase their skills.”
Registration for the open player tryout begins at 8:30 a.m. with the workout beginning promptly at 9:30 p.m. The Multiplex is located at 18909 South Miles Road, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, 44128. All participants must be 18 years of age or older as of December 5.
The cost of participating in the open player tryout is $70 pre-registered and $80 for registering the day of the event. To pre-register, interested participants must pay by credit card only by visiting www.clevelandgladiators.com and completing the appropriate forms. The pre-registration deadline is Wednesday, December 1 at 5:00 p.m. Cash or money order will be the only accepted payment the day of the tryout. Both fees are non-refundable.
Players will be tested in the standing broad jump, 40-yard dash and short shuttle. Following testing, players will be evaluated in a variety of specific position drills.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Participants will receive a t-shirt to wear during the tryout
Awards will be given for the following, but are not limited to: fastest 40-yard dash time, longest broad jump and fastest short shuttle time.
To be considered for pre-registration, the Gladiators must receive payment online by Wednesday, December 1 at 5:00 p.m.
The open player tryout will be conducted on field turf, so participants are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear (NO METAL SPIKES).
Please plan on 3-5 hours for the tryout.
Please bring plenty of water, as it will not be provided.
A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only – not for player taping.
There is no full-contact, thus, no need for shoulder pads or helmets.
Kickers WILL NOT be evaluated during this tryout.
