Blaze DL Maurice Fountain named to AFL All-Rookie Team

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Blaze DL MAURICE FOUNTAIN (6-4, 270, Clemson) was named to the 2008 AFL All-Rookie Team as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
In the 2008 regular season, Fountain recorded 13.5 total tackles, one forced fumble and one pass breakup in nine games. Fountain was also second on the team in sacks with 4.0.
Fountain made his Blaze debut in Week Eight against the San Jose SaberCats. He recorded 4.0 tackles, one pass breakup and 2.0 sacks, an individual team-high.
Prior to the Blaze, Fountain spent his rookie season with the Manchester Wolves (af2). Fountain tallied 29.5 total tackles, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a franchise-record 13.0 sacks in 16 games.
The Blaze (6-10), winners of six of their last seven games, earned their first-ever home playoff game with a 62-45 win over the Arizona Rattlers in the final game of the regular season last week. Utah will host the Colorado Crush (6-10) Saturday at 2 p.m. (MT) at EnergySolutions Arena. The game will be televised ESPN.
