Force sign second-year DB james Whitley and place DE Will Thompson on IR

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA – The Georgia Force today signed DB James Whitley and placed DE Will Thompson on injured reserve.

Whitley, 5-11, 185 pounds, is entering his second season in the AFL after starting six games for the Force in 2007. He collared 36.5 tackles, seven passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one interception in his rookie season. Whitley tallied eight tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one pass defensed in Georgia’s Divisional Round Playoff game vs. Philadelphia (7/14/07).

Thompson, 6-2, 261 pounds, started two games for Georgia this season and posted 3.5 tackles. Thompson is a native of Warner Robins, Georgia, where he played football at Northside High School and later went on to play four years at the University of Georgia.
