Dallas also makes practice squad moves

DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Desperados placed DB DaShane Dennis (5-10, 175) on the Reserve/Injured list and signed DB Pete Hunter (6-2, 212) while also shifting around their practice squad today.

Dennis started all three of Dallas’s games this season and posted three tackles, fourth-most on the team. He has also made 2.5 special teams tackles. Dennis suffered a foot injury in the second half of the Desperados’s 51-40 win last week against the Colorado Crush.

Hunter, who was set to play with Team Florida of the now defunct All American Football League for the 2008 season before the league folded, has five years of NFL experience playing with three teams including the Dallas Cowboys (2002-04), Cleveland Browns (2005) and Seattle Seahawks (2006) and totaled 55 tackles, three interceptions, eight pass breakups and one sack in 34 games played with five starts. Originally a fifth round draft pick (168th overall) by the Cowboys out of Virginia Union University in the 2002 NFL Draft, Hunter also saw action in three games in the NFL postseason, totaling seven tackles, one interception, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

Dallas also made some moves on its practice squad, releasing WR Tramissian Davis (6-0, 175) and OL Darnerius Watson (6-2, 300) and signing OL Adrian Gonzalez (6-5, 320) and WR Bret Smith (6-3, 195).

Gonzalez is in his second AFL season after playing with the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2007. Smith, an AFL rookie, spent the 2008 training camp with the Desperados before being released during final cuts.
