Thunder announce 2008 radio team

All games will once again be aired through Cumulus Broadcasting

BOARDMAN, OH. – The Mahoning Valley Thunder is pleased to announce the 2008 Thunder Radio team. For the second year in a row Valley native and ESPN 1240 The Fan personality Christian Aleshire will serve as the color analyst. Joining Aleshire is WKBN and FOX 17/62 Assistant Sports Director Joe Aulisio, who will handle the play by play duties.

All Thunder games will be broadcast on ESPN 1240 AM (WBBW). All 16 regular season games and any additional playoff contests will include a 15 minute pre game and 10 minute post game show.  Each game will also be simulcast through the internet at www.wbbw.com. Aleshire will also co-host the Mahoning Valley Thunder Coach’s Show which will air each Monday night from 6 to 7 p.m. on ESPN 1240 The Fan. WBBW is a member of the Cumulus Broadcast family.

Aleshire is a 1997 graduate of Warren John F. Kennedy High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in telecommunications from Youngstown State University in 2002. Aleshire has been a member of the Cumulus broadcast team since 2003, working for ESPN 1240 The Fan (WBBW), Y-103 and ROCK 104. In addition to calling every game during the Thunder’s inaugural 2007 season, Christian also provides color commentary for local high school football games each fall. Aside from on air work, Aleshire also handles production and maintains the website for ESPN 1240 The Fan. Says Aleshire: “I am very happy to be back with the Thunder. Last season was a great experience for me. I enjoyed getting to know the players, coaches, and the rest of the Thunder family. I look forward to working with Joe throughout the 2008 season and would like to thank the Thunder organization for the opportunity.”

The newest member of the broadcast team, Aulisio, is a native of Elyria, OH. Upon graduating from John Carroll University in 2003, Joe spent a year and a half as Sports Director with WOHL/WLMO in Lima, OH. Currently Joe serves as the Assistant Sports Director for WKBN and FOX where he anchors sports for Fox’s First News at 10 program. Aulisio also works as a sideline reporter for WKBN and FOX’s high school and college football Game of the Week broadcasts each fall. He first joined WKBN/ FOX in May of 2005 and currently resides in Canfield. “This is an exciting opportunity for me. I followed the Thunder closely in 2007 and was blown away by the excitement of the indoor game and the fan friendly atmosphere. I’m thankful to be a part of the Thunder organization and for the opportunity to work with Christian, who did such a great job last year. I anticipate another exciting season in 2008 and am thrilled to be a part of it.” Aulisio said.

The Mahoning Valley Thunder opens the season at home Saturday March 29th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre.
