Quad City Steamwheelers Add Ben Burke to Front Office

March 10, 2008, (Moline, Ill.) – The Quad City Steamwheelers announced today, the addition of Ben Burke as the new Vice President of Sales. Burke, 31, joins the front office after spending the previous season as the Swing of the Quad Cities/Quad Cities River Bandits General Manager.

“I am extremely pleased to announce this hire,” said Shawn Brown, the Steamwheelers Vice President/General Manager. “After talking with him it became apparent how much he enjoys living in the area and how much people in the area respect him. He will make a great addition to the staff and I look forward to working with him.”

Prior to joining the Steamwheelers Burke worked the final season with the Swing and played a major role in the re-branding effort when the organization changed the name to the River Bandits during the off-season. While with the Swing, Burke oversaw the day-to-day operations of the organization and worked to foster relationships with corporate sponsors.  Burke spent five seasons with the Schaumburg Flyers where he started in 2002 as the Finance Manager and worked his way to Assistant General Manager.

“I am grateful to remain in the Quad Cities,” said Burke. “I love working with all of the people and corporate sponsors here. The Steamwheelers have a really great ownership group and I am looking forward to continuing my work in professional athletics in the Quad Cities.”

Burke graduated from UW-LaCrosse with a Masters in Business Administration and currently resides in the Quad Cities with his wife Angie.
