The Fresno Frenzy has announced its coaching staff for their inaugural season in arenafootball2. The veteran staff has firm roots in the Central Valley and more than 75 years of coaching experience between them. Head Coach, Rick Worman, says, “We didn’t have to look far to find the best coaching staff available that can help us be a successful team right away”.

Dick Gaskell has been in the coaching business for more than 20 years and will hold the position of defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. Gaskell is also the head coach of the Fresno High varsity football team.

Former Fresno State split end, Keith Day, is in charge of wide receivers and defensive backs. Day joins the Frenzy after spending the previous nine years as the offensive coordinator and receivers coach at Edison High in Fresno.

James Fuller will serve as coach of defensive backs and special teams. Since 1999, Fuller has been an assistant coach for San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno. The Shreveport, Louisiana native attended and played for Fresno State from 1991 to 1996.

Keith Gooch will also act as defensive backs and special teams coach. Gooch comes to the Frenzy with more than 10 years of coaching experience. The former Edison High assistant played for Fresno State from 1978 to 1981.

Rounding out the coaching staff is Daren Miller who is in charge of linebackers and special teams. Miller has coached at several Central Valley schools including, Roosevelt, Edison, and Washington Union and is currently the principal of West Fresno Middle School in Fresno.

The Frenzy is one of 34 teams expected to play in the af2’s 2002 season. Fresno will kickoff its inaugural season March 30th in Hawaii. The first home game will take place April 13th when the Frenzy hosts the San Diego Riptide at Selland Arena.

More than two million fans have attended arenafootball2 games in the league’s two-year history. In 2000, af2 began its inaugural season with 15 teams. The league expanded to 28 teams in 2001, making it the fastest single-league expansion in the history of sports.
