Veteran Empire QB Grady Wins MVP Honors

Earns Second-Consecutive Honor and Third Overall

Philadelphia, Pa. (August 9, 2019) – The Arena Football League today announced nine-year AFL veteran, Empire QB Tommy Grady, earned the MVP award after another phenomenal season in the League. This is Grady’s second-consecutive MVP award, and third MVP honor of his career, which he first received in 2012.

Grady becomes the first player to ever win the award in consecutive seasons.

The QB was unstoppable this season. He led the Empire to a 10-2 record, the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and ultimately an ArenaBowl 32 berth. Grady was a huge part of the Empire’s success throughout the season, leading the League in numerous categories including passing yards (3097), passing touchdowns (68), completion percentage (68.6) and passer rating (125.5).

Grady was consistent every game, throwing for seven or more touchdowns in four games this season, and throwing for 300 passing yards twice. Additionally his 9.44 yards per passing attempts ranks as the third- best season in AFL history.

Over his nine-year career, Grady has been one of the best quarterbacks in League history. He currently ranks sixth in AFL history in career passing yards (38062) and fifth in career passing touchdowns (850). In addition to his MVP award, Grady also garnered a First-Team All-Arena selection, which was the second of his career.
