Military Appreciation Day set for afternoon matchup with Philadelphia

The Valor (1-4) are back at Verizon Center this weekend hosting the defending champion Philadelphia Soul (5-0) on Sat., May 27 at 1 p.m. The team will host Military Appreciation Day, presented by Leidos, to honor veterans as well as those currently serving in the Armed Forces. In addition to the in-game recognitions, the team will provide members of the military and their families with complimentary tickets to the game.

VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH: WR ROGER JACKSON – Coming off his third consecutive game with at least one touchdown, Jackson looks to stay hot this weekend against the Soul. The third-year AFL vet is coming off a nine-catch, 137-yard and two-touchdown game at Tampa Bay that earned him Offensive Player of the Game honors.

SOUL PLAYER TO WATCH: QB DAN RAUDABAUGH – Raudabaugh spearheads a Soul offense that leads the AFL in points per game. Raudabaugh threw for eight touchdowns last week and is tied for the league lead with 39 on the season. He ranks second in completion percentage, total passing yards and passer rating.

MATCHUP TO WATCH: WAS WRs vs. PHI DB JAMES ROMAIN – Valor WRs Roger Jackson and T.T. Toliver have each found the end zone in three straight outings. Jackson, noted above, earned Offensive Player of the Game honors last weekend in Tampa Bay. In the same game, T.T. Toliver became the fifth player in AFL history to eclipse 2,000 career points with a touchdown late in the second quarter. Each will face a sturdy challenge when lined up against Soul DB James Romain who leads the AFL with 33.5 total tackles this season, including 2.5 for loss, and is tied for second in the league with two interceptions.
