Predators announce Open Tryouts for upcoming season

Tuesday October 13, 2015

ORLANDO – October 12, 2015 – The Orlando Predators will hold open player tryouts on Saturday, November 14 at 9:00 a.m. at Faith Christian Academy, located at 9307 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825. Predators Head Coach Rob Keefe and General Manager of Football Operations Michael DiJulio will be on hand to evaluate players in attendance.

Participants will be tested in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and short shuttle, with position-specific drills to follow. Players must be prepared upon arrival with appropriate workout gear and cleats/footwear. Testing will take place on grass. The tryout is non-contact. Pads and helmet are not necessary. Kickers will not be evaluated at the tryout. All other positions will be evaluated and are encouraged to participate. No prior football experience is required.

“Every year we sign players from our open tryout,” said Head Coach Rob Keefe. “The event brings out high quality talent that has slipped through the cracks and plays an integral role in building our roster. I would encourage anyone who has ever had an interest in playing professional football to come out and show their skills. We are always looking for diamonds in the rough”

All participants can pre-register at a discount rate using a credit card on the team’s official website. Online pre-registration ends at noon on Friday, November 13. The cost of the tryout is $50 for those who pre-register online and $75 on the day of the tryout by cash, credit card, or money order only. Personal checks will not be accepted. On the day of the tryout, registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. All tryout participants will also receive an Orlando Predators workout t-shirt.

The Orlando Predators have found countless players at open tryouts, including defensive back Nick Taylor who participated in last year’s open tryout. Taylor went on to earn a starting role as a rookie in 2015 and registered 86 tackles with four interceptions, 20 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

The tryout is completely open to the public. Fans are encouraged to attend. All fees are non-refundable. Tryout participants must be 18 years or older and must bring a valid form of I.D. All players are required to sign a waiver and release form on the day of the tryout prior to participation.
