Power Beat Predators 62-61 on the Road

ORLANDO, FL – In a back-and-forth affair, the Pittsburgh Power (7-3) beat the South Division-leading Orlando Predators (6-4), 62-61, tonight at the CFE Arena in front of a crowd of 5,002. In the win, Grady finished completing 29-of-48 passes for 306 yards and eight touchdowns, making him the all-time leader in single-season passing yards and touchdowns in franchise history, moving past his counterpart in tonight’s battle, Bernard Morris.
Pittsburgh and Orlando traded scores throughout the first half, as the score was tied 28-28 at halftime. The Power captured their first lead of the game in the third quarter when quarterback Tommy Grady and wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez hooked up for their second touchdown connection of the night. After Orlando tied the game up at 35, Rodriguez and Grady connected again to put Pittsburgh up 41-35 entering the final frame.
In his first game back after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 3 of AFL play, Rodriguez finished the contest leading Pittsburgh’s receiving corps with 13 receptions for 148 yards and four touchdowns.
After former Power quarterback Bernard Morris hit Larry Brackins for a touchdown strike to start the fourth quarter, the back-and-forth scoring ensued once again. With things all tied up at 48, Orlando put themselves in a position to turn the tides when defensive back Tracy Belton picked off a Grady pass and returned it eight yards for a score to give the Predators the lead.
With just under 13 minutes to play, Grady bounced back and tied the game back up with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Hank Edwards. Orlando quickly responded with a 45-yard Morris strike to Greg Carr to regain the lead. Kicker Mark Lewis’ extra point was no good. Grady then orchestrated a nine-play drive that ended with a bullet pass to Edwards in the end zone with :01 second remaining in the game. Kicker Julian Rauch split the uprights on the point after to give the Power the 62-61 victory.
Morris finished the game connecting 16-of-26 passes for 230 yards and five touchdowns. On the ground, he chipped in three scores for Orlando.
With a four-game winning streak under their belt, Pittsburgh returns to CONSOL Energy Center next week hosting the undefeated Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, May 31. Kickoff at is set for 5:00 pm ET.
