Arizona Rattlers add OL Brennan Carvalho
Thursday February 25, 2010
MESA, Ariz. – Arizona Rattlers head coach Kevin Guy announced the signing of OL BRENNAN CARVALHO today.
Carvalho finished his collegiate career in 2007 by winning the Rimington Award, which is presented yearly to the top center in Division I FCS. He made the All American team twice; once as a center and once as a guard. He also was named First-Team All-Big Sky for three consecutive seasons. Carvalho signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in April 2008, and made the practice squad that season.
“Brennan is a very versatile player who can play center or guard for us,” Guy said. “We’re going to evaluate him as a center first. He should add to the competition we already have going on the offensive line.”
The team still has some roster spots to fill as training camp approaches. The team will begin practicing at Gene Autry Park beginning on March 15. The 2010 season kicks off April 3 when the Rattlers travel to Cleveland to take on the Gladiators.
“We’re going to have a very competitive camp,” said Guy. “Camp is only two weeks long; it’s going to be important that these guys show up ready to go. It’s going to be interesting; we’ve got a good mix of veterans, top guys from af2 and street free agents. They all seem to be very hungry right now.”
