Foster ArenaBowl trophy to be presented next Sunday

NEW YORK – For the 22nd time in Arena Football League history, an ArenaBowl champion will be crowned. For the fifth time in League history, the Foster ArenaBowl Trophy will be presented to the ArenaBowl champions. The current Foster ArenaBowl Trophy was created in 2004 and replaced the League’s previous trophy that was introduced in 1992.

The Philadelphia Soul (13-3, 2-0) and San Jose SaberCats (11-5, 2-0) will battle for the Foster Trophy on July 27 at the New Orleans Arena. Kickoff for Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII is set for 3 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast live in high-definition on ESPN on ABC.

Specifications on the Foster ArenaBowl Trophy:

  • Created in 2004.
  • Replaced the League’s previous trophy that was introduced in 1992.
  • Designed by Zweigle Advertising, INC. of St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
  • Stands approximately 28” tall.
  • Weighs approximately 60 lbs.
  • Custom hand-crafted Sterling Silver AFL Championship Bowl as the top tier component.
  • Engraved on the horizontal Sterling Silver bands are the words: Character, Commitment, Excellence and Teamwork.
  • Bowl is adorned with six bas-relief hand sculpted Sterling Silver football scenes.
  • Bowl affixed to 16” high, hand crafted hard wood column finished in stain black ebony.
  • Black ebony column accented with inlaid vertical Sterling Silver and two surface mounted horizontal Sterling Silver bands.
  • Bottom tier base of American Walnut with Sterling band that will be engraved with every ArenaBowl Champion.
  • AFL emblem mounted to front surface of vertical column.
