Soul's Smith named to 2008 All-Ironman team

PHILADELPHIA – Soul linebacker/fullback Clifton Smith was named to the AFL’s 2008 All-Ironman Team on Thursday.
 
Smith, a rookie, had 45 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble a linebacker, while rushing for 133 yards and 10 touchdowns on 50 attempts.
 
Smith is the ninth different member of the Soul to honored with an award this postseason. On Tuesday, kicker Connor Hughes was named to the All-rookie team. On Wednesday, QB Matt D’Orazio, WR Chris Jackson and OL Martin Bibla and Phil Bogle were named All-AFL First-Team, while DL Gabe Nyenhuis and Bryan Save and DB Eddie Moten were named to the second team. 
 
The Los Angeles Avengers and Tampa Bay Storm led all teams with two players placed on the AFL’s All-Ironman Team, the League announced today.
 
Chicago Rush WR/LB DEJUAN ALFONZO earned his third consecutive selection while Columbus Destroyers FB/LB HAROLD WELLS, San Jose SaberCats WR/LB JASON GEATHERS and Tampa Bay Storm WR/LB LAWRENCE SAMUELS earned their second straight honor.
 
Dallas WR/DB WILL PETTIS earned his fifth consecutive All-Ironman selection after leading the AFL for the second straight season winning four Ironman of the Week honors (Weeks 3, 7, 13 and 14) and one Ironman of the Month Award (May).
