Rules are rules and we all must live by them. Without rules there would be no limit to the way teams would try to win. Illegal equipment, illegal formations, `buying` the best players, etc... But one has to wonder, according to the evidence thus far presented, how lodging and travel accommodations MAKE players win?
If I stay at a nice hotel and eat steak on someone else`s dime, am I that much better of a player than one who pays for their own accommodations? If someone gives me a ride to the airport vs. paying for a taxi myself, have I gained that much of an advantage?
There are too many questions that need answered before titles are stripped, owners are fined, or players made ineligible for play. And oh-by-the-way, the possible, future, partial ownership by the NFL will make matters so much EASIER to control. LOL
Let us give credit where credit is due. The Steamwheeler players were the ones on the field and played the game by the rules. I don’t think their stay at a Holiday Inn Express MADE them champions. They played the same game, with the same ball, with the same equipment, with the same number of players on the field.
And the final question, who is next?
