Hooray for Hollywood

Well, almost...

Saturday June 10, Los Angeles California, from the plush Chic Hearn pressroom deep inside Staples Center. The Los Angeles Avengers and the Arizona Rattlers squared off in a Western Division game, and the ending was straight out of Hollywood, the disappointment here is as thick as the LA smog…

Dear readers, you expect things to be different when you come to the "Entertainment Capital of the World," but when "Rocky and Bulwinkle" are involved in the coin toss, you know you`re not in Kansas anymore…

Now, this being L.A., you can`t just have someone`s cousin or friend sing the National Anthem, no sir, these people all have recording contracts and agents, and recording artist "KINA" was no exception…

The Avengers won their first game last week, and were 7 seconds away from winning their second game, when Hunkie Cooper parted the waters like Charleston Heston, and led his people to victory, running back the kickoff 54 yards…

Cooper returned this Kickoff to win as time ticked away...

Arizona was ahead at the half 26 - 17, L.A.`s defense stiffened in the 3Q and Arizona could only muster 7 points cutting their lead to 2 points 33 - 31. The 4Q saw L.A. go ahead for the first time since their opening drive. With seven seconds remaining, the fans were tasting the free Big Macs, as LA lead 51 - 47. (Fifty points is the magic number in L.A. for the fans to get a free Big Mac from McDonalds, it used to be 70 points, but they had to lower the number after they realized that it was too high…) And then the big one hit, Fred Sanford couldn`t have dramatized it any better, the fans got the wind knocked out of them, some even dropped their cell phones, in Arena Football it isn`t over, till it`s over…

L.A. QB Todd Marinovich had a solid game, posting 20 of 32 for 258 yards and 7 TDs. I imagine the DA`s decision not to file rape charges helped his concentration… Chris Jackson had an outstanding game, with 9 catches for 113 yards and 4 TDs…

Arizona QB Sherdrick Bonner had a good performance, 18 of 38 for 255 yards and 5 TDs… Maurice Bryant turned in another acrobatic performance with 7 catches for 121 yards and 2 TDs…

I`d like to tell you more, but my cell phone just rang, it was "Rocky and Bullwinkle" they want to meet for drinks, later dudes…
