Firecats Add Lineman with NFL Experience

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats added yet another impact player to the roster when Jabbar Threats was assigned to the team by the league office.
The 6’5" 255 Threats was a standout 2 year starter at Michigan State. He then played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1997 and 1998 leading the team in preseason sacks with 3.5 in 1997. He also spent time in Green Bay in 1999.
Threats, along with Firecats teammate Antonio Dingle, played for the NFL Europe Scottish Claymores in 2000 and 2001. Threats and Dingle were part of a dominating defensive line known as "The Hounds" which recorded 44 sacks in 2000. Jabbar made 28 tackles including a joint team leading 7 sacks while playing in all 10 regular season games helping to lead the Claymores to the World Bowl that year.
Threats was then signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002 before having his season cut short with a shoulder injury.
In June of 2004 both Threats and Dingle were named to the Claymores 10 Seasons All-Star Team, recognizing the best players at each position over the last decade.
"His resume speaks for itself," said former Firecats lineman and current Assistant Head Coach Victor Hall. "We’re just trying to find the most talented guys out there and with his experience added to the guys we already have, Quarterbacks better watch out cause we’ll be coming."
The Firecats will host their Final open tryout Saturday March 4th at Estero High School Field. 21900 River Ranch Road. Estero, FL 33928. Registration begins at 10am with workouts starting at 11am. A $75 (Cash Only) registration fee is due the day of the tryout. The tryout is open for all positions and will be conducted outdoors on natural grass. Players will be required to perform in a Prostyle Combine Workout. All participants are required to bring their own shoes (cleats recommended) and other workout attire. The Florida Firecats open the 2006 season on the road against the defending af2 Cup Champion Memphis Xplorers April 8th.
