Celebrating the history of the Arena Football League

T.T. Toliver passes Wagner, becomes all-time leader in all-purpose yards

ANAHEIM -- The Arena Football League was founded on players playing offense, defense and special teams. You had to do a little bit of everything if you wanted to make cut it. The AFL has since become tremendously specialized, and it isn't often you see a player who can play both sides of the ball effectively.

His record probably won't last forever, but there certainly will never be a T.T. Toliver again in this league. On Monday night, Toliver broke the all-time record for all-purpose yardage in a career, eclipsing the mark previous held by Barry Wagner, a man largely accepted as the greatest Ironman to ever play this great game.

It's been stated time and time again, but it's tremendously odd to think of a man who came into this league as a defensive back holds the record for the most all-purpose yards ever with 21,030 in an offense-driven league, but Toliver has been phenomenal doing it all over the course of his entire career dating back to 2002.

Toliver is now the record holder for basically every major category possible for a receiver. Three weeks ago, Toliver became the all-time leader in receptions in AFL history. The week prior, he passed Damian Harrell for the most receiving yards in league history.

Most All-Purpose Yards in AFL History

T.T. Toliver – 21,056

Barry Wagner – 21,042
Hunkie Cooper – 20,586
George LaFrance – 20,436
