Celebrating the history of the Arena Football League

Tiger Jones passes Chris Jackson for fourth place on all-time receptions list, has 14k in sight

TAMPA -- Saturday night in Tampa will belong to TT Toliver, as he became the all-time leader in receiving yards in Arena Football League history. On most other nights though, what Tiger Jones accomplished would set him apart from the rest of the pack. With his fourth reception on Saturday night, the Jacksonville Sharks man went past Chris Jackson for the fourth most receptions in AFL history.

Even though Toliver has been ripping apart the record books this season, Jones isn't all that far behind him in any of these categories. It seems inevitable that sometime in the next couple years, Jones will overtake Toliver for the most receiving yards and receptions all-time, and his marks should be celebrated as well, especially knowing that there are only five men in the history of this great league to ever log 1,000 receptions.

Most Receptions in AFL History
Damian Harrell – 1,164
T.T. Toliver – 1,155
Lawrence Samuels – 1,030
Tiger Jones – 1,006
Chris Jackson – 1,004

Even though Jones has been helped out by the advent of the 18-game season which the AFL played under for five years, there's no doubting the fact that he's destroying the record books in terms of per-game averages. Jones has now played in 127 regular season games in his career, and not only is one of the five men in the league's history to log over 1,000 receptions, but he also entered Saturday just 82 yards shy of being one of the three all-time to have over 14,000 receiving yards. No man reached either threshold anywhere near as quickly as Jones did in terms of games or seasons.

Jones also entered Saturday with 278 career touchdown receptions, sixth most in the history of the League. Though Jones has Donovan Morgan right on his backside, he also has James Roe in his sights. Roe finished his career with 282 receiving touchdowns.

Most Receiving Touchdowns in AFL History
Damian Harrell – 357
Chris Jackson – 325
Eddie Brown – 303
T.T. Toliver – 294
James Roe – 282
Tiger Jones – 279
Donovan Morgan – 276
