HEAD COACHES:
Danton Barto, a former Memphis State (now University of Memphis) Tiger legend Danton Barto was promoted from defensive coordinator to the head coaching position prior to the 2002 af2 season. Barto, who still holds the Tiger record for career tackles, got the Xplorers off quickly as they started 3-0, but the team spiraled to a disappointing finish at 5-11. Danton played professionally in the CFL and AFL. This season Barto has reunited with two former Tigers to help him turn things around in the Bluff City. Former teammate Steve Matthews will be Barto’s assistant head coach and former Tiger Lou Esposito will coach the OL/DL. Barto lives in Bartlett, TN with his wife, Rachel. and their son, Will, who is four years old.
Jose Jefferson is in his first season as the Blizzard’s coach. Jefferson is in his fifth year of coaching arena football and fourth as head coach. Jefferson holds a career record of 28-26 with two playoff appearances. Jefferson previously held the head coaching position with the Lincoln Lighting and ran a record of 12-4.

College Highlights: Gile was voted Athlete of the year his Senior year at Central Missouri. Gile was also an All-Conference and All-Region Quarterback while at Central Missouri. In Gile’s Senior year, he threw for 2300 yards and 25 touchdowns. Gile led the nation in passing effenency. Gile also led Central Missouri to their first bowl appearance and first bowl win. Gile finished his career with a 20-4 record.
High School Highlights: Gile was voted High School All-American, Gatorade Player of the Year, Street & Smith top 5 QB, All-State, All-Region, All-Metro, Arizona All-Star, and USA Today Best in the West.
