Breaking News – Tampa Bay Storm Activate Nick Hill: On Tuesday May 29th, the Tampa Bay Storm activated QB Nick Hill. In order to make the move, WR/DB Michael Lindsay was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Hill was activated by the Storm less than a week after being released by the Green Bay Packers. Hill was originally signed to be the starting quarterback for a team that truly struggled at the signal caller position in the 2011 season, a year in which Tampa Bay didn't get into the playoffs and posted just a 7-11 season.
As of this time, there is no word from the Storm as to whether or not Hill will immediately be put on the active roster for this week's game against the Jacksonville Sharks. One would figure though, that the leash is very short on QB Steve Wasil, who has completed just 60.5 percent of his passes for 2,755 yards with 55 TDs against 16 INTs. The 16 picks is one behind QB Tommy Grady of the Utah Blaze, though Grady clearly gets the nod as the better of these two quarterbacks considering the fact that he has over 800 more passing yard and 32 more touchdown than Wasil.
After spending some time in the af2 and in other leagues, Hill was with the Orlando Predators for two years. In that time, he threw for 176 TDs against 35 INTs, and he had 9,037 yards. Hill clearly improved in his two seasons with the team, though he did only have one playoff victory in three games. Hill led the Predators to an average of 54.9 points per game in his time with the team. The Storm are averaging 53.5 points per game this season.
