Game 2: South Georgia @ Alabama
Pre-Tailgate: I woke up this morning and looked at my television to find the Arena Football: Road to Glory game on from last night. I started a game between the Alabama Steeldogs and South Georgia Wildcats. The end result was 41-34 in favor of the Wildcats. My day didn’t start well, obviously.
I proceeded to get ready for the game by getting my clothes together. My jersey, shorts, ball cap and face paint. Yes, face paint is a part of my clothes.
I can you that I am fired up about going to the tailgate party coming up and the game as well. However, I am not feeling good about the outcome of the game tonight.
Game Preview: South Georgia is fifth overall in points per game, and the Steeldogs have given up just 44 points in their lone contest this season. The Wildcats put up 77 points last week against the Louisville Fire..
This will be the first game inside the BJCC this season and the first road game for the Wildcats.
Tavaris Capers, although never playing a down in the black and orange, is a former Steeldogs player. The threat of Capers is enough to make the Steeldogs worry in the defensive backfield. Capers sits in the top 10 in scoring in the league. He and teammate James Robinson each have five touchdown catches on the year.
Chavis McCollister has not been as successful as he was last season for the Macon Knights just yet, but has the ability to be a top pass catcher in the league.
On the defensive side, former Memphis Xplorer Greg Golden has two interceptions on the year. Just as many as Steeldogs quarterback Robert Kent has thrown on the year.
Kent will have to step up and be a leader for the Steeldogs to be in contention tonight.
The Steeldogs are not making any major personnel changes this week. So fans can expect to see the same faces as the opener. However, for a good game’s sake, let’s hope they aren’t the same football players.
