Farewell Message from Kevin Sheller
Kevin Sheller
Saturday November 1, 2003
I agreed.
And now, six years later, I say goodbye. What started as a labor of love has finally become more labor than love for me. Of course, I still love Arena Football. I still love the owners, the coaches, the players, the team media relations folks, and the league for all of their cooperation and smiles.
We went through a lot. The dark days when the league was almost cancelled were overshadowed by the bright days when I traveled short and long distances to attend ArenaBowls. It was always a thrill for me to be received by the coaches, players, and owners who I so admired. They seemed just as excited to meet me as I was to meet them.
I'm proud of what we were able to accomplish with Arenafan. We got a whole herd of passionate people together and assembled the very best Arena Football media and information website in cyberspace. I believe we held that position of power throughout our entire six years... Of course, that status cannot be credited to me. It was the dedicated people who worked so hard every single day to make sure the site was updated.
So as I part, I say thank-you to them. Every single one of you contributed to a great organization that was dedicated to a greater organization. More than 100 people worked on Arenafan over those years, and all of you contributed in positive ways.
Joe Kauffman now takes charge of the behemoth that Arenafan has become. His capable hands are a perfect resting place. He cares so deeply about Arenafan that during those weeks when we experienced network problems, Joe could hardly sleep or eat. If the site was not operational, it was like Joe's child was in the hospital.
Thanks to the fans for their encouragement and love for our dear website and the Arena Football League. Your words of encouragement served as my salary for all of those years. Thanks so much for your generous wage.
