Celebrating the history of the Arena Football League

It’s not likely, I’m just saying

Oklahoma City, this week’s #1, couldn’t possibly lose to the struggling 0-7 Battle Wings. Could they? Last season the two teams split a pair of games with each team winning at home. This week they are home versus OKC.

Of the current franchises, here are the game eight results for teams that have started 0-7
2005-Birmingham defeated Green Bay 55-26 (final record 2-14)
2003-Green Bay lost to Wichita 57-36 (2-14)
2002-Louisville defeated Carolina 31-28 (2-14)

That’s two out of three for the 0-7 teams. The Yard Dawgz only previous loss was to a winless Amarillo team back in week five. Still gonna bet the farm on the Yard Dawgz?

Another game of interest:

I know there’s still a long way to go in the season but this weeks match up between Birmingham and Macon could go a long way toward deciding who sneaks into the last playoff slot.

Both teams are coming off tough losses and desperately need to get back into the win column. Lately, Macon has been doing their best Everett imitation by shuffling players and coaches and they look a bit unstable. But do not forget their six out of eight run last season to get them in playoff picture. Don’t count Macon out yet.

As for Birmingham, this team confuses more than anyone. Their three wins are against teams with a combined record of 4-17 but sometimes they look like they are right on the edge being in the top twelve.

At the risk of having my friends down at the BJCC a little sore at me I’m leaning toward Macon on this one.

Does or does not

Bossier City-Shreveport does not have the worst points against average. Neither does their winless partner Everett. That distinction goes to the 2-5 Steamwheelers at almost 59 ppg.

Upset Special

I’m going with 3-4 Manchester over the 6-1 Pioneers.
